Using resume data on millions of workers, we show that employees’ human capital accumulation is negatively associated with their employers’ financial distress risk. This negative relationship is primarily driven by reduced employer-provided on-the-job training. Notably, the reduction in human capital accumulation concentrates in firm-specific skills and has a negative relationship with firm performance.

演讲人简介：

Xiao Ren is an Assistant Professor of Finance at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Georgia. His research interests include empirical corporate finance, labor economics, and entrepreneurial finance. His works have been published in Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Review of Corporate Finance Studies.
